I just want to start by saying I love Tennis. It is one of the first sports, besides Baseball, that I enjoyed immediately when I started playing. It has a little of every sport in it. You need usable strength throughout the match like Football. You need speed and stamina like in Soccer. Mental strength and ability to act alone much like Golf. The sport has it all and more. There is also so much history, grace and excitement that can happen in a single Tennis match. Each person’s personality is seen in their game from the way they hit the ball, react to a good or bad call, how the crowd reacts to them and even how they dress.
Watching the US Open, which is the last Grand Slam event of the year, it’s a great thing to see the event that encapsulates the country in one location. Each Grand Slam event is unique and we are very lucky to have for our own to show us off to the world. From the crazy fan support, the night matches, the atmosphere, the brashness it is uniquely New York and US. Watch a match and see how great a match can be. Then go grab a racket and hit some balls on the court….I may just go do that now.
