Thankful…
First off let me apologize as it’s 3:58am and I am writing this on a whim, so early apology for incoherent sentences and misspellings.
Thanksgiving is a time for reflection and the same thought that the year has flown by way quicker then any other year. For years, 10 to be exact, I spent my Thanksgiving eve into early Thanksgiving morning at a Best Buy store preparing for the craziness of what is called Black Friday. As crazy as it sounds, I actually mostly liked it, well up to about 2am actually. I liked the planning, executing and comradere you got when you are working on the same goal with others that you respect, admire and shared a good portion of your life with. As I think back I realize times like that made me a better person not just at work but in life in general. It’s amazing how things you learn on a job are transferred into real life. From hard work, determination, grit, how you treat others, everything helped me grow as a individual. It makes me thankful for the life that I have lived up to this point and thankful for the people that I have been able to surround myself with, regardless on whether or not I speak with them now. All the people I have interacted with and were able to spend 5 REAL minutes with has probably some influenced me on how I live to this day. Be it the person who I saw Sunday mornings for 4 hrs a week or the barista who makes Soy Hazlenut Latte or the friend I speak with via email every 6 months. I am a reflection of my environment and the people I surround myself with and honestly I feel like I’m a good judge of character.
So on this day of thanks I want to say I appreciate everyone around me from my past and present for making me the man I am, who I don’t think is to bad a guy. Enjoy the day with the ones that mean the most to you sharing food, smiles, laughs, maybe some tears. Sometime during your day take a step back and give thanks for what you got, I know I will.
